"Other than swim-bike-run!! XTERRA is completely different from the road. Road triathlon is a contest of endurance and sustained output. Head down, hands on aero bars, peddling at a fast spin then turnover and pace on the run. If you put your head down in XTERRA you're coming off the bike. XTERRA requires a set of skills to perform well. You must climb, descend, ride ruts and roots and rocks. Speed is important, but being able to negotiate the various types and styles of terrain is more important. The same for the run. Our runs are all on trails with steep ups and downs, natural obstacles like fallen trees, streams, beaches, rocks. Triathlon is a celebration of fitness and endurance. XTERRA is a celebration of daring and skill. It is fun, it is out in nature, and Mother Nature is your biggest competitor." Dave "Kahuna" Nicholas, XTERRA WORLD TOUR.
“If you love a tough race with great landscapes, scenic places and great atmosphere, this is the one to be considered as a paradise for XTERRA athletes with many trails starting from this clear water lake surrounded by big mountains. The village in the middle of these Abruzzo Mountains, is just as scenic as you can imagine, you are in the real Italy with friendly people who are proud and happy to host an XTERRA event. The swim course is quite simple. You swim 1k before exiting and running around 100m before diving again into the lake for the last 500m. The Bike course consists of 1 loop of 31,5km mainly composed by one long climb (elevation gain of 1150m) and a long downhill and finally again one loop for the 10,4km run course including some vertical drops”. (Paul Charbonnier - Race Director di XTERRA France)
